We are not going to tell you what to wear while hiking but we can offer you valuable advice so that your hiking trip will most definitely be a success.
The only way to be certain that you are dressed correctly is to follow a few simple principles of wearing the proper gear and hiking cloths. The big secret is knowing how to layer starting right from against your skin.
Does and don’t when it comes to choosing the correct hiking cloths
• Do not wear everything you have at once. Many climbers and hikers make this mistake not knowing better. They usually start with a first layer of cotton and then keep on putting on every piece of warm clothing they own. This is a BIG mistake.
• Try to avoid cotton right against your skin. It is true that cotton is a perfect moisture absorbent but it also traps it right against the skin. This may result in lowering the body temperature, which could lead to hypothermia.
• Use thermal cloths that have wicking properties.
• Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely without constrictions.
• Do not wear new hiking boots unless you are 100% sure that they will not cause any harm to your feet.
• NO mini skirts or your favorite stilettos …we are joking of course, but joke aside really do not wear any of those no matter how good you want to look.
• Avoid wearing tight fitting clothing. Tight fitting cloths will hamper circulation, causing discomfort on the mountain.
